Installation room

Space requirements for lifting stations

Space requirements

The room housing free-standing sewage lifting stations must be large enough to provide a working space of at least 60 cm in width and height next to and above all parts requiring operation and maintenance. The installation room must be adequately lit and well equipped for aeration and ventilation. A pump sump must be provided for room drainage in lifting stations in accordance with EN 12050-1. In practice, lifting stations are often installed free-standing in a room, but are also installed in the ground or in concrete pump sumps.

Tip: A modern alternative to installing a pump sump is to integrate the lifting station directly into the floor slab.
