In July 2017, the new series of standards DIN 18531 to DIN 18535 and the revised DIN 18195 (terminology standard) came into force. The new DIN guidelines clearly define the scope of their five component-related areas of application:
- DIN 18195 – Waterproofing layer of structures – Terminology
- DIN 18531 – Waterproofing layer for roofs, balconies, loggias and pergolas
- DIN 18532 – Waterproofing layer for concrete traffic areas
- DIN 18533 – Waterproofing layer for building components in contact with the ground
- DIN 18534 – Waterproofing layer for interior spaces
- DIN 18535 – Waterproofing layer for tanks and basins
