In 1923, the Arosa Ski Club decided to build the Hörnlihütte Arosa mountain hut at an altitude of 2,513 metres. The hut has been used for catering ever since. Over the years, various extensions and conversions have turned it into an impressive restaurant with overnight accommodation - also open to guests who are not club members. Even on a mountain, the waste water from the kitchen has to be cleaned. In 2016, it was necessary to replace the old grease separator with a new model. The operators opted for a customised grease separator from KESSEL. As there is only limited space on the summit and no direct transport route, the separator had to be flown to the hut in individual parts by helicopter. The parts were then assembled and welded together on site - a major effort, but one that was necessary in order to continue operating reliably and in an environmentally friendly manner.
