Backwater protection
Protection against backwater and water in the basement
It happens time and time again: during severe storms or heavy rainfall, the sewer system cannot drain away the floodwaters quickly enough. The water backs up from the sewer into homes or commercial premises; it is not uncommon for rooms in the basement or ground floor to be flooded. The consequences: significant damage, high costs and, not least, a great deal of hassle. Yet it is not at all difficult to remedy the situation. A backflow preventer effectively stops water from the sewer system entering the building.

Field of application
on backflow preventers
A backflow prevention device is always required where waste water accumulates below the backwater level and is discharged into the public sewerage system via a free gradient. This applies in particular to drainage outlets in basements or lower ground floors, such as floor drains, washbasins, showers, baths, washing machines, sinks or toilets. If backwater occurs during heavy rainfall or when the sewer network is overloaded, wastewater from the sewer system can enter the building via these drainage fixtures and cause considerable damage. A professionally installed backwater valve reliably prevents sewage from being forced back from the public sewer system, thereby effectively protecting basement and lower-level areas from flooding and the resulting damage.
