Self-inspection in accordance with DIN EN 1999-100
The functionality and condition of the separator system must be checked by a competent expert / inspector at least once a month:
- Visual inspection of the inlet and outlet areas of the sludge trap and separator
- Measurement of the layer thickness or determination of the volume of the separated light liquid in the separator
- Measurement of the sludge level in the sludge trap, preferably in the inlet area
- Check of the automatic closure device and any warning devices present
- Check the permeability of the coalescing device by visually inspecting the water level whilst water is flowing
Any defects found must be rectified immediately!
Maintenance in accordance with DIN EN 1999-100
The separator system must be serviced every six months by a competent expert / inspector in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the relevant regulatory requirements.
In addition to the self-inspection measures, the following tasks must also be carried out:
- Inspection of the coalescing device in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications
- Inspect the visible internal areas visually for any visible damage
- Cleaning and checking the automatic closure device and probes of any warning devices
- Emptying and cleaning the separator in the event of excessive contamination
- Cleaning of the sampling system/sampling chamber if necessary
Any defects found must be rectified immediately!

Operation
The plant must be operated by competent experts / inspectors. A log book must be kept in accordance with DIN EN 1999-100, in which the dates and results of the self-inspections, maintenance, checks and rectification of any defects identified, as well as the disposal of extracted materials, must be documented.
