Applicable standards and guidelines
If mineral oils or light liquids, particularly those that are flammable or capable of creating an explosive atmosphere, are likely to enter drainage systems, separator systems for light liquids in accordance with DIN EN 858-1, DIN EN 858-2, DIN 1999-100 and DIN 1999-101 must be installed downstream of the drainage points.
Drains from areas where motor vehicles are washed, serviced or refuelled must be connected via separator systems for light liquids. These areas must be demarcated by water divides.
Drains from areas where motor vehicles are only parked may be connected to the drainage pipe without a separator system, provided that no other requirements arise under water legislation, sewerage regulations or local by-laws. This does not apply to special situations, such as the storage of scrap cars at a scrap yard.
