Flat bathroom drains make renovation easier
When renovating bathrooms, it is not uncommon to find that a drain needs to be installed where there is no suitable recess in the subfloor. In such cases, it is best to install the drain within the floor structure, between the subfloor and the top edge of the floor, rather than creating a costly new recess. In older buildings in particular, the floor structure is sometimes very low, which is why only the flattest bathroom drains with a total installation height of well under 10 cm are suitable for such renovation projects.
Important: Ease of maintenance
However, with many low-profile bathroom drains for renovation available on the market, the design of a drain body that is as flat as possible comes at the expense of ease of maintenance and cleaning, as well as drainage performance. When choosing a bathroom drain for renovation, you should therefore always consider ease of maintenance. After all, this will be a factor for you or the operator for decades to come! Particular attention has been paid to this in KESSEL’s flat floor drains. The odour trap is fully removable in all our drains, so that even in the event of a pipe blockage, the floor drain can serve as an access point for a high-pressure flushing system.
With floor drains that have a low profile, also pay attention to the drainage capacity: as high-quality, flat floor drains also have a higher drainage capacity and thus ensure effective drainage during use.
Renovation-friendly bathroom drains and shower channels from KESSEL
High-quality options for bathroom renovations include the ‘Ultraflat’ bathroom drain, the ‘Linearis Compact’ shower channel and the ‘Linearis Infinity’ shower channel from KESSEL. These drains are among the flattest of their kind and feature a horizontal outlet, allowing them to be installed easily within low floor structures above the subfloor. Thanks to a wide range of grate covers in various designs (The Ultraflat) or an optional solid silver or tileable stainless steel bridge (Linearis Compact), there are numerous options for adapting them to the new room aesthetic.
